A few notes: Most of the recipes have been copied exactly. Only occasionally have I succumbed to my compulsion to neaten them up. I like the fingerprints of time and personality but sometimes a little more clarity would be helpful. One good example is Evelyn's sugar cookie recipe which I reproduced exactly as she wrote it.
Some recipes are clearly dated by the ingredients, others by the recipe itself. Consistency in format is a little weak and handsome design is absent. My excuse in general is 'Too many recipes, too little time.' Names are sometimes a problem but for the near term they are as I know them (for the most part - again, consistency suffers.) Indexing, likewise, is not correctly alphebetized.
I have chosen which recipes to add for several reasons but the basic reason is that they have lived on in my memory. Some are very easy, some are time-consuming or difficult or have unusual ingredients, most give me connections to those who have enjoyed them or those who gave them to me, and many are associated with special occasions - birthdays, holidays, gifts. I have made them all. And now I'm enjoying them once again, as I type.
As I look for old favorites, I'm finding many potentially new favorites. Because this is such an easy access way to store and then locate recipes, I've begun adding the more irresistible. I'll mark them with an asterisk so you'll know those come without a guarantee, at least not yet.
